Your First Visit

Congratulations! Researching therapists and finding out what to expect from services is a huge step in your journey toward mental wellness. Your first visit is a starting point and will be different then a typical therapy session. 

Prior to your session I will send you an individualized link into the client portal. You will be asked to complete intake paperwork through the client portal, prior to your first session. Please complete the paperwork through the client portal prior to the first session so that I can review it and be prepared for when we meet.

Entering the building:

Thrive Counseling Solutions is located at 408 Jefferson, St. Charles MO, 63301. The front door faces Jefferson. You can park behind the building in our private parking lot and follow the sidewalk around to the front. 

Once you enter the building you will be in the waiting room. Please take a seat and I will be with you shortly. My office is located on the first floor.

Our first session, also called an intake session, will be focused on us getting to know each other, figuring out what area of your life we will be focusing on and creating an initial goal for our session. 

If you are using your health/behavioral health insurance to pay for sessions, we will also be discussing which diagnosis will be assigned to your current situation, as insurances require a diagnosis for billing.

Preparing for your first virtual appointment:

All virtual appointments are through a confidential Telehealth platform. You will receive an email with an individualized, session specific link to each virtual counseling appointment. Emails with the individualized link will be sent to you when your appointment is created, 24 hours before the appointment time and once again 15 minutes before the appointment.

Laptop or Desktop Computer equipped with a video camera and microphone:

When you click on the link using a laptop or desktop computer you will be immediately brought to the Telehealth platform. Just click on the link a few minutes before your session begins to make sure you can connect to the platform. You can check your connectivity including internet speed, video and microphone compatibility when you log on prior to the session.

Smartphone or Tablet equipped with a video camera and microphone:

The first time you access a session on a smartphone or tablet you will be automatically directed to download the free “Telehealth by Simple Practice” app from your phone’s app store. This will occur once you click on the emailed link to access the session. This may take a few minutes, so please log on a few minutes early so that your phone/tablet has time to download the app. Once the app is downloaded all future sessions will automatically access the app when you click on the session specific, individualized link provided in the email sent for each session.
